Good Luck, Little Mila!
Monday, Apr 01 2019

Two-year-old girl Mila Rončević from Rijeka, who suffers from Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia (AML M7), is set to travel with her parents to America for treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. On Monday, April 1, 2019, at noon her parents announced the exact amount of money raised for the treatment (more than $4.3 million). Little Mila united Croatia and showed everyone that humanity is still alive.

Professor Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., University of Rijeka Rector, stated: "Humanity is a virtue that encompasses many other virtues. It is the size of the spirit, civic friendship and something that Thomas Aquinas called one of the heavenly virtues. We can and must contribute to a more humane society, and we as institutions have a duty to nurture and encourage the values of humanism. Good luck, Mila!" Madam Rector thanked everyone who donated money for Mila's treatment.
