STEM Area - Today for Tomorrow
Monday, Oct 22 2018

The opening ceremony of the professional-scientific interdisciplinary conference STEM Area in the Educational System: Today for Tomorrow was held on Monday, October 22nd, 2018, at the UNIRI Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (hall 006) at the UNIRI Campus. The aim of this conference is to promote the popularization of science and encourage the development of critical thinking in pre-school and early school-age children, with the aim of directing children toward STEM areas and creating a society of knowledge.

Professor Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., University of Rijeka Rector, held a welcoming speech: "There are three important elements that this conference brings forth: promoting science and restoring trust in science (at times when it is often relativized), promoting the importance of democracy (a message that the entire University advocates and is obliged to send) and the inclusive initiative that promotes the STEM area, as well as the humanities." Madam Rector also took the opportunity to congratulate Prof. Lidija Vujičić, Ph.D., Dean of the UNIRI Faculty of Teacher Education, and other Faculty employees on celebrating the Days of the Faculty whose marking began today, precisely with this conference.

The attendees were also welcomed by:

Ms. Dragica Marač, Head of the Department for Social Policy and Youth of the Primorje-Gorski kotar County, on behalf of Mr. Zlatko Komadina, County Head,

Ms. Sanda Sušanj, Head of the Department for Education of the City of Rijeka, on behalf of Mr. Vojko Obersnel, M.Sc., the City of Rijeka Mayor,
