European Researchers' Night
Tuesday, Oct 02 2018

The European Researchers' Night was held on Friday, September 28th, 2018, at the Tower Center Rijeka. The event traditionally took place on the last Friday in September, in four Croatian cities: Zagreb, Split, Pula, and Rijeka, as well as in more than 300 European cities. The Tower Center Rijeka estimates that more than 18,000 people took part in the event and visited the 12 ''research'' stations of the University of Rijeka.

This event was coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia at a national level, and by the University of Rijeka at a local level. The event was organized as a part of a larger project, Techno-Past Techno-Future: European Researchers' Night, co-financed by the European Union's Research and Innovation Program Horizon 2020.

The aim of this project is to promote science, scientific work and research through popular forms and activities to help the wider public become more familiar with the scientific methods and results of the work.

During the Rijeka Researchers' Night, scientists from the University of Rijeka, i.e. Departments for Biotechnology and Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Center for Micro- and Nanosciences and Technologies presented their scientifically interesting activities to the public and citizens.

Their activities were deployed at 12 locations, the so-called ''research stations'', located on three floors of the Tower Center building, where visitors could get informed about the scientific activities and scientific work that our scientists are dealing with. The visitors could also visit the last (5th) floor and enjoy in the entertainment program. There was also an EU corner with information about the project, participants and everything related to the realization of the European Researchers' Night.
